Privacy Policy

Portuguese Experience is in pre-launch. This policy explains what personal data this website processes today, why, and how you can exercise your rights under the GDPR.

Data controller. The controller of your personal data is João Coelho (sole trader operating under the brand Portuguese Experience), NIF 256 429 669, Rua das Oliveiras, Bloco D, 4710-088 Braga, Portugal. For any privacy matter, including the exercise of your rights or the withdrawal of your consent, write to hello@portugueseexperience.com.

Personal data we process. When you join the Founders List we process the name, country and email address you provide, an optional phone number, your preferred wine and preferred cheese, the language version of the site you used, the page the registration came from, whether you gave marketing consent, and the date and time of the registration and of that consent. No payment data is collected on this website.

Purposes of processing. Founders List data is processed to manage Founders List registrations; to communicate the launch of Edition 01; to communicate future Portuguese Experience editions and relevant collection news where marketing consent has been given; to record wine and cheese preferences in order to understand customer interest; and to respond to requests you submit to us.

Lawful basis. Founders List and marketing communications rely on your consent, given by actively selecting the marketing checkbox (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). That consent is freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous; the checkbox is never pre-selected. You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to hello@portugueseexperience.com, without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal. When we answer a message you send us, we rely on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Recipients and processors. Registrations are stored in the managed database and email infrastructure of our hosting and backend service provider (Lovable Cloud, built on Supabase), which acts as a processor on our instructions. The product catalogue is served by Shopify, which will also handle checkout and payments once sales open. Web hosting and delivery are provided by Lovable. We use no analytics, advertising or social tracking services, and we do not sell your personal data.

International transfers. Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, transfers rely on the safeguards offered by the provider, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Retention. Founders List personal data is retained for a maximum of two years from registration, unless you withdraw your consent or request deletion earlier. Where continued retention is required by law or necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, the relevant data may be retained for the period required for that purpose. Once commercial sales begin, order, invoice and accounting data will be retained for the periods required by the applicable legal obligations.

Customer accounts, wishlist and recommendations. You may create an optional account with an email address and a password in order to keep a wishlist of boxes and editions across your devices. Wishlist entries are stored against your authenticated account and are visible only to you. The optional “Find Yours” suggestion tool processes the taste preferences, occasion, cultural interests, budget and any optional notes you submit for the sole purpose of generating a suggestion during that session; the request is processed through the application’s AI service infrastructure. These answers are not stored in your customer profile or in our database by default, and they are not used for marketing unless you have separately opted in to marketing communications. Please avoid entering unnecessary personal or sensitive information in the optional notes field. Your account and wishlist data can be deleted at any time through the rights and contact process described below.

Your rights. You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and the right to withdraw your consent at any time; withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before it. Send any request to hello@portugueseexperience.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority — in Portugal, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).
